A rose by any other name…

Here in the Philippines, finding roses are few and far between— we mostly see them only every 14th of February, unless lucky enough to live near the Dangwa flower market.
So imagine my pleasant surprise when I came across this find, a rival to a rose’s beauty, while walking along the pathways of UP.
There’s this saying that one must hold one’s head up high when walking and not look at the ground. This is just another rephrasing of the ever-quoted “look on the bright side of things.” Well, here’s proof that even on the muddiest, most dangerously pock-marked roads, hope lives.
