Kaamulan Grounds, Malaybalay City
Kaamulan Groundsis one of the best spot for a date, picnic, relaxing and even for big events in Bukidnon. The place is located right at the heart of Bukidnon- Malaybalay City; the City within the forest. Kaamulan Grounds is made in honoring of the tribes that once lived in Bukidnon and are still in attendance up to now. The tribes in Bukidnon are still very much appreciated and are very well respected. There are 7 hill tribes namely: Bukidnon, Higaonon, Talaandig, Manobo, Matigsalug, Tigwahanon and Umayamnon.Every 3rd week of February, a festival is celebrated honoring the 7 tribes of Bukidnon. The festival is then called Kaamulan Festival which originated from the tribal word “amul” which signifies “gathering or to gather”. It is in this gathering where the tribes meet, celebrate and rituals are made. The festival is simply made to attract all the people, promote the place from tourists and of course, to have fun. When the festival is in, the Kaamulan Grounds is then prepared as a venue for many activities to be made. Those activities include Wall Climbing, Zip Lining, Horseback Riding, Garden Show, Livestock Show, Off Road Challenge, etc. Other activities are then to be found at the Provincial Capitol Grounds.Kaamulan Grounds is a perfect place to unwind. Many of the locals visit the place to have picnic, a date, or even to pre-nuptial photo shoots. When visiting the place, the different houses are the ones you will notice directly. These houses are actual size replica of the real house built by Bukidnon ethnic groups that make the Kaamulan Grounds as it is. These houses are also used to accommodate visitors, inside are a number of beds and a good room for toilet and bathroom. Staying at the place is very much like in Baguio because the place is surrounded by tall pine treeswhich make the place even more cold and refreshing.Nearby is a stream of very clean and refreshing water. It is like you are living within a forest. The place is ideal for camping, devotionals, jogging or even by just sigh seeing. The landscape itself is very much attractive to catch anyone’s attention. Nearby, you can also see the Kaamulan Folk Arts Theatre; it is where most of the big programs are made such as Laga ta Bukidnon (Miss Tourism), Piniliyapan, Concerts, etc. The place is just a 5-10 minutes ride and is very much accessible to any type of vehicle.
