Mount Apo Natural Park
Climbing Mount Apo is one of an excellent activity since it helps you condition physically and mentally; like thinking better ways on crossing tough rivers and trails. When going to high mountains like Mt. Apo, be sure to bring with you your own good rain coat and also a small tent because it usually rains a lot and it gets very cold at night time. You might also suffer from hypothermia if you get soaked and don’t have any dry clothes to change to. Water is available at some places alongside the way, so bringing with you a liter of water bottle should be enough. Upon climbing, you must make sure you got just enough loads with you since carrying extra weight would make it harder for you to take the climb. Mt. Apo is said to be 2954 meters, and is known to be the highest mountain in the Philippines.
Most of the hikers usually take three days to make the round trip from the starting point near the Agko Hot Springs. Yet, if you are tough, in good shape and wanted to push through, you could absolutely finish the trip in just 2 days or less. There are few rivers to be crossed at the start of the trail. The park workers have built bridges for some of the rivers to at least help the mountain trekkers to easily cross them. But still there are those who do not have bridges, so just prepare to get your feet wet crossing the small streams and muddy areas.
All in all, the climbing experience was nothing but adventurous and plain fun. One tip when you’re planning to have this kind of trip, always remember not to take with you anything that is really not necessary since you will be experiencing a lot of uphill walking.
