The Art of Planking

Many of us are already familiar or perhaps have tried doing the planking or the lying down game. For those who don’t know what planking is, it is an activity consisiting of lying your face down in an unusual or crowded places. Your hands must touch the sides of your body while you were being photographed without looking at the camera. The term planking refers to imitating a wooden plank. The fun side of planking is that you must publish those planking photo of yours in the internet, such as in your Facebook account or to the official planking website. People who are doing planking competes who among them have the most unusual, creative and original location to plank.

The Art of Planking

Here’s a helpful instruction I found online on how to do planking.

1. Lie face down, straight as a board, pointed toes, arms to the side with straight pointed fingers.

2. The planker’s face must remain expressionless, head held straight, not turned.

3. Pretend as if rigor mortis has set in.

Other variations of planking includes:

Teapotting

Teapotting can be done by bending the arms into the shape of a teapot. This is in reference to the popular children song “I’m a Little Teapot”.

 Owling

It is practicing the crouching of an owl. Just like in planking, this must also be done in an unusual place.

Horsemaning

Is said to be the next level of planking.  It involves laying on one’s back on a flat surface with the head unseen over the edge while one more person hides at the back of the same object, only leaving the head showing in the picture. Such photograph is meant to show as if the person has been beheaded.

Batmanning

Batmanning or bating tends to mimic the bats or batman. It can be done by hanging upside down.
