The parable of the spider
Spiders are everywhere. People think they are gross and dirty creatures. Most of the time we are frightened and we try to kill them. What we fail to recognize is that they help us take out all the insects and flies in our homes. Spiders do not mind living in poor or rich houses. Now who do you think taught spiders to make such webs? God taught them long before they were made.
A spider starts life inside an egg. The mother spider lays many eggs. Sometimes the mother spider dies after laying her eggs. The eggs usually hatch in a very short time. A baby spider is shaped like its mother, but may be lighter in color. The baby spider is soon able to spin its own web and capture its own food. It does not have to be taught. This comes naturally. Just like when you learn how to crawl or walk when you were a baby.

Bat Cave in Samal Island
Bat Cave is located at Montfort Eco-park at Barangay Tambo, Island Garden City of Samal. The cave has been known to be occupied by 1.8 million fruit bats. It has known to be the largest colony of fruit bats in the world. The Montfort Bat cave has been recognized by Guinness as “the world’s largest colony of Geoffrey’s Rousette Fruit Bats or Rousetteus amplexicaudatus” . These bats have always been mistaken to be harmful, disgusting and ugly. But they are good pollinators and are a good source of fertilizer known as guano.
The place has been commercialized to attract tourists at the same time, to help protect the bat cave. The cave has 5 openings which enables the tourists to peek through the holes and see the colony of fruit bats. The visitors are usually limited to 100 a day since the owner protects the bats and she’s afraid the people might scare away the bats and disturb them. Upon entering the sanctuary, the visitors are reminded to keep their voices down so that they would not wake the bats. The place is very amazing yet there’s a touch of creepiness about the millions of bats you can see in your naked eye.
