Carabao, a farmer’s best friend.
Subject of the photograph is Carabao or kalabaw. It was taken from a ricefield of Simaya, Malaybalay City. It is considered Filipino’s faithful partners in life. It is a water buffalo that is endemic in South East Asia. It plays an important role especially to the life of Filipino farmers. They are the ones who assist farmers from planting until harvest time. I grew up in a farm and I have seen it myself the importance and perseverance of carabaos. Aside from its usefulness in the rice field, it was also used as means of transportation in our place especially in transporting heavy goods from one place to another. It will pull a “carabao cart” which usually carries sacks of rice, fruits, vegetables and even people. During my childhood years, we used to ride at the back of Carabaos- it was just like riding a horse only that carabaos don’t run. Read more…
