This park is located at the mountains of Manolo Fortich, Barangay Dahilayan. Bukidnon. It has been declared as the National Park of Nature. Monastery of Transfiguration, a place for perfect serenity

This pyramid shaped architecture is the Monastery of the Transfiguration chapel located on the slopes of San Jose, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon. Hidden beyond the trees and hills that are planted with coffee lies a breath taking architecture. The famed Monastery of the Benedictine Monks or commonly known as Monastery of the Transfiguration’s Chapel, was designed by the late National artist Leandro Locsin.

When I was still young, me and my family would always go to the chapel for Sunday mass or sometimes tour our relatives to this famous chapel. Back then, it was still not the pyramid shaped chapel. Their first chapel (now the old monastery) was a small 2-storey building made of wood. The old monastery was nearer but the ambiance was still the same. I would hear my grandparents say that Benedictine monks live there and devote to vow of silence and continued prayer. It has been said that monks pray 7 times a day starting at 3:40 AM. Read more…
